Types of Digital Signature Certificates

The last variant is the Sign and Encrypt DSC, which, as the name suggests, is a combination of the previous variants. By all means, this is the safest among the three and is used for both signing and encrypting documents. It is conveniently used as a tool by companies and individuals who use this DSC to authenticate and protect the confidentiality of the documents. You have most probably guessed it right as DSC’s variant is used for highly confidential government documents.
Classification of The Digital Signature Certificates
The DSCs are certified into three classes, i.e., Class 1 Digital Signature Certificate, Class 2 Digital Signature Certificate, and Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate.
All these three DSC classes are different from each other when it comes to the safety level in a risk-borne environment. Class 2 Digital Signature Certificate is used to authenticate the signer’s details and re-affirm all the data provided. It is mainly used for online form filing and attesting e-mails or income tax filing.
The main difference between the Class 3 Digital Signature Certificate and Class 2 Digital Signature Certificate is that the former one is suited for a more risk-borne environment. The Class 3 DSC is just an upgraded version of Class 2 Digital Signature Certificate. It is mainly used for online trading and e-commerce, where a lot of money and high-level confidentiality is involved.
Confidentiality of The Digital Certificate Service
Digital Signature Certificate maintains confidentiality as it assures both the client’s identity and the public key. In this, the Certification Authority issues the DSC to a particular domain and server, which also includes the public key accompanied by the client details, expiry date, who has issued the document, and other required information. On the other end, the person who has received it validates the client’s identity and encrypts the secret message using the public key that he has received.
The role of digital certificates in maintaining confidentiality is that it ensures removing the risky process of key management and provides evidence of verification of identity and document signing to the owners of the certificate. Moreover, it ensures who to be trusted for a legitimate transaction.
